Uk school in year transfer

How long do in year transfers normally take? I'm pretty sure, with my first kid I applied via parent portal and had a yes/ no letter after 5 days. I applied for in year transfer to another school in the same area, 4 minutes away from each other. And it's been 11 days and I've heard nothing.

I know the rule of thumb is 15 days, but surely if they don't have spaces they would just check and tell the parents quickly.

11 days in and I'm beginning to think it's a rejection.

(Primary school in year transfer for year 2)

We've just done this, had the allocation email on the fourth day.

4 days sounds normal to me seeing as my daughters admission took 5 days.

Its been 11 working days so far. seems too long seeing as I enquired with the school beforehand if they actually have a space and according to them they not only have a space they have "spaces". Was told to apply via LA which I did.

I could understand if it was a location transfer but this is a simple same area in year admission.

@BeNewShark this is what the national Schools Admissions Code says about timings for a reply:

Thank you, I managed to get a message from the admissions teams and he/she says within 15 school days I will recieve an outcome. Its been 11 working days already so I'm losing hope a little.

I checked the admissions code against the council site and it says 15 working days.

But I've never had to wait this long before, it's normally as simple as check for spaces yes or no and then let me know this is taking far too long.

Can anyone tell me if they've waited more than 11 days and got good news 😭

Dear all, we’re moving to the Muswell Hill area, would need to transfer our kids to near by school, likely Coldfall. How long does the process of applying and receiving a place take? We would be moving in the middle of the school year. Thank you!

See @havensafe 's extract from the Admissions Code upthread for the timescale within which you should get a response to your application - or in your case, application, since you apply for a place for each DC separately. Even if there is a place available to be offered to one of them, there is no guarantee of a place for the other(s).

Assuming that places can be offered, most schools expect them to be taken up within a couple of weeks, although (dependent on local rules) once past a holiday / half term break, they may be okay eith a start date immediately after the next break.
