City London School Home Visits

Hi! Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of home visits by City of London School for Boys staff? DS had his interview recently, and following on from that, we have been emailed saying the bursary assessment manager and school registrar want to visit our home for a 'casual freindly chat'

They have said DS does not need to be there and it is a chance for them to get to know us as parents and discuss how a bursary will work for our DS and a chance for us to ask questions.

Has anyone experienced one of these visits? Would you mind sharing any experiences!? Thank you !!

Do you think that part of their purpose is to check that you do qualify for a bursary, that the details you have submitted are correct? There is such huge competition for City of London places and for their bursaries that they undoubtedly have people tweaking their details in the hope of qualifying?

it's to check for the purposes of the means-tested bursary that your home circumstances are consistent with what you've declared. Enough people tell lies and hide significant assets to qualify that they have to check thoroughly. If you've told the truth you've nothing to worry about.

It's standard for means tested bursaries.

They'll often have independent/external companies helping too

Expect to show them absolutely everything about your finances ercy

Ah yes, ok, I was wondering if it was that. The bursary assessment team requested in depth financial documents and evidence in advance which had to be sent in order to get an interview slot allocated for DS.

Has anyone hosted staff for a home visit they can share experiences of?

I am looking for an advice and guidance regarding my son's offer to City of London School (CLS) for Year 7. As a new parent to the school community, I am hoping to connect with other CLS parents who can provide insights and support during this transition.
I would greatly appreciate information about any parent groups, forums, or networks where I might obtain valuable advice about the school. Currently, I do not know any CLS parents personally and would welcome the opportunity to learn more about the school experience from those with firsthand knowledge.
Could you kindly advise me on how I might find such a parent community or support group?

Have you got the place in CLS?
