Funded hours for private school year R?

Hello,

I was told by a parent this morning that funded hours are able to be used in Year R and actually into Year 1 depending on child's birthday. This is at our local indi, where my eldest is at seniors there and youngest in preschool.

I didn't know this, and curious if other private schools do this also? It must help quite a lot in terms of fees?

Our DD's prep offers the 15 hours discount, but not all local preps do. It works out as a £1430 per term reduction, but only until the child's 5th birthday. So it only ever applies to the nursery and reception years. If it applies to a child in Year 1, does that mean they went into Year 1 aged 4?

I'm not sure actually! She said her child's birthday is in July so some of it covered her in year 1.

I'll email the prep today and ask about the funding etc as that will help us since my eldest fees went up with the VAT!

Yes, August born dc was funded throughout Reception and we paid balance. The school has to fulfil the EYFS criteria and it ceased the term following 5th bday.

Never knew this was a thing

Anyone know if it could be backdated?

DS just turned 5 but we've paid full whack for the first term

NM, it seems no option to backdate

And it seems DS's school don't accept the funded hours. Damn.
