Hi there, we have booked to take our son abroad in term time for 10 days. We understand we will be fined but I just wanted to confirm will be only receive one fine or would it be classed as two fines due to it spreading over two weeks? Thank you

It could be four because the fines can also be per parent.

Agree it's per week per parent.

Yes four fines

Its one per parent per period as far as I know. So if the 10 days are in a row then its one fine per parent.

We went away for 14 days in term time in Nov and told to expect one fine per parent. The school authorised a few sessions in the end to bring us until the 10 session threshold (family wedding)

It doesn't technically matter how long the holiday is, if it is longer than 10 sessions. So this would be a fine person parent.

It also depends if this is the first time you do this in a three year period. First time it's £80 per parent, second time it's £160 per parent, 3rd time you can face being taken to court.

Thank you everyone! This is the first and only time we will do it. I was just concerned that it might be classed at two fines per parent as it's over the 10 session but then I guess he is not missing 20

10 days is 20 sessions, AM and PM registrations each day.

He will only be missing 16 sessions- only 8 school days due to the weekend in between

It doesn't matter how many sessions it is over 10, the fine doesn't multiply
