Do you mean secondary, presumably?
Does gender matter?

Who could possibly know, frankly.

Wolfiefan · 16/01/2025 22:24

The one where they are happy, thriving and experiencing success.

MagentaRavioli · 16/01/2025 22:24

Mallory Towers

UnimaginableWindBird · 16/01/2025 22:25

Hogwarts, but it's very selective.

MrsMoastyToasty · 16/01/2025 23:14

My old school.

IdaGlossop · 16/01/2025 23:19

This question is too vague to answer. How do you define best? What age of child? Boys, girls, both? Day or boarding? Stare or independent?

Depends on the child. The "best" school for one child won't necessarily be the best school for another.

mistymorning12 · 17/01/2025 07:19

Probably one where they can teach kids to use questions marks and spell "your".

Zestymango691 · 17/01/2025 22:22

Secondary

There is no ‘1 Best School’ in the UK. There are too many different ways of judging/categorising.
What sort of things are you looking for in a school OP?

MarchingFrogs · 18/01/2025 11:26

Haven't you already declared de Ferrers Academy to fit the description, on another thread? If only prollyConfused

Mysteryfemale · 18/01/2025 15:49

Best School, 1 Town Street, UK. It's a 4-19 through school.

I'm an old lefty myself and I grew up in close proximity to the private schools that swarm in Cambridge. I've always worked in state secondary schools in how say I say somewhat tougher than average areas of London. My current school is a very happy place for most students. We are sometimes visited by students from other schools sometimes from other countries and on one occasion from a very expensive private school. When I met up with one of their senior teachers some months later he said their kids never shut up about how much better my school was.
So on that basis my school!

It totally depends what you want.

Mixed / boys / girls
Boarding/ day / combo
Private / state / either
Selective / non selective
Academic / sporty/ music&arts / all rounder

The list goes on....

Somewhere like Gordonstoun is going to be a bit of a shag if you live in cornwall for example...
