My DD cried and did not go inside for her assessment. The school has asked her to come again? Are there any chances they will consider her if she does welll?

They wouldn't have asked her to come back if it was a write off!

Last year they had to do an extra round of assessments for 4+ because they didn't get enough girls though the first round. So things might be becoming a bit less competitive post VAT!

Thank you so much. My daughter is really good with all activities and very chatty usually even with strangers but doesnt want to go the moment she knows its a school assessment. She seems to be scared of the teachers. :(

Don't tell her it's a school assessment! Just say it's a play date in a big nursery room (or whatever is plausible and she'd like). They have no idea they're being assessed.

Yes dont tell her she's being assessed. Tell her she'll be playing and reading for a short while. My girl has very bad separation anxiety too, that morning we spent a lot of time just dancing and laughing with her so that she was in a good mood. When she arrives, ask her to hang her coat in one of the pegs (if available), show her the small aquarium and swings to make her feel comfortable and remove any anxiety she may have. When the teacher arrives, make sure she's not sitting on your lap as that will make it harder to separate. I noticed that a few kids sitting on laps were the most anxious. Lastly, dont draw too much attention to the fact that she's leaving you.
