Does anyone know the answer to this? (VAT on private school fees).

It is interesting to note the shift in Labours language in response to this, it has shifted from ‘paying for 6500 teachers’ and ‘breakfasts for every child’ to ‘ will raise £1.8bn a year by 2029/30 to help deliver 6,500 new teachers’.
The extremely thin veil of justification for spite aimed at children continues to become thinner by the day.

And ofsted reforms. And school building maintenance. And new teacher training something I caught the end of the other day. It’s like the MN chicken this money …. the amount of things it’s apparently paying for is incredible!

its going to be a long four years 🙄

@prh47bridge - yes of course there is the DFE. However, as this is a political attack on the private sector primarily and no proper analysis or engagement with the entire sector appears to have occurred (at least according to MN threads), then the solution is to demand that there is political representation of those children. So SOS for STATE education only - not very representative for all children now is it. And the tweets from the SOS for Education back that up. It is simply not one of her responsibilities.

It is her responsibility, even though she appears to think differently.

The original list was:

  • breakfast clubs for all kids in primary (not means tested so includes wealthy parents who cab afford to feed their own kids)
  • mandatory tooth brushing in all primary schools
  • mental health online provision in all schools
  • 6500 extra teachers
  • language hubs (ironically they have now massively reducing the number of existing language hubs)
  • empty schools turned into nurseries
  • Ofsted Reform
  • SLT training
  • and
  • and

It was indeed to be the mythical MN chicken. Ironic when it was never hypothecated AND their maths was wrong.
Even more ironic that in the past few weeks they have ended the Access to Latin programme, scrapped computer hubs in most deprived areas + significantly reducing existing language hubs.
Listen to what things off the initial list they are no longer talking about and that tells you that they are fully aware that the policy won't bring in anything like they claim.

Pretty incredible, huh: having 7% funding all that... entirely for the other 93% - without the 93% having to put their hand in their pocket at all!

Or maybe that won't work...
