Park Primary/Histon and Impington Park Primary School - Thoughts?

Hello,

We are considering moving our children from a Cambridge-based private to Park Primary in Impington (we’d be moving from CB1 area, which we love) and are curious to hear thoughts/reviews for those enrolled in the primary school.

Ofsted report of “Outstanding” is a good sign but your thoughts would be helpful.

Our daughters are 8 and 6. We’re looking for a warm environment where well-rounded children are supported while academic excellence is also encouraged. Music is important to our family.

We are a mixed-race family and diversity is also a consideration for us - I assume the village is not very diverse?

Thanks for your thoughts!

I worked at the secondary there for a while.

The secondary has a reputation for working with international students well - they offer the myp and the IB at sixth form.

The students at the secondary are more international than most schools - so many for example Russian, Spanish, French, Turkish families. Racial diversity much less so but Cambridge in general is overwhelmingly white.

Is your 8 year old year 3 or year 4? As of 26th November, Histon and Impington Park had no year 3 places available.

I have a family member there.

Very popular schools, usually heavily oversubscribed, and I'm unsurprised there are no vacancies in some year groups. Parents are happy, DC appear to be doing well.

Have you actually visited? Why do you assume it is not diverse?

Thanks! Visiting this coming week :-) We’re new to Cambridge and the UK so I just assumed villages were less diverse - but happy to be totally wrong here!

Also - does anyone have experience with Meridian Trust? Seems they run many schools in UK - feels almost like the charter school system in the United States. I’m assuming advantages of having a central body managing the school is more process, sharing of best practices and the like?
