My partner has been living in tge UK for about 6 years. But last year, he was out of the country for 6 months for visa renewal. Can he do apprenticeship without waiting for another 3 years?

What visa was he on, and what is he on now?

Hi, he was on ancestry dependent visa for 5 years. He was out of the country for 6 months after that visa. Now, he's on ancestry visa on his own for next 5 years. After that, he's getting indefinite leave to remain.

From what I understand he will need to wait until he's been here another 3 years. You must be ordinarily resident for 3 years prior to starting and if he was out of the country waiting for a visa renewal it's a simple case of him not being resident at that time.
