Summer Holiday After GCSEs

My son is taking his GCSEs next summer. We are planning to go abroad for a week at some point afterwards. He's my eldest and it's been a few years since my other kids took theirs. As I recall, they didn't go back into school at all once the exams were over.

I've seen that the exams finish on June 25th in 2025. Would I be safe booking a week holiday the following week, before they hike the prices up for the school hols? Has anyone ever done this?

Thanks for any input

If your son has any interest in school events like prom then I’d check with the school when it was.

@Snorlaxo Yes thank you! Totally overlooked that!

Our school is doing a fun day social thing a few days after the 25th contingency day. I think it's important to have some kind of gathering like that otherwise there's no real opportunity for everyone to celebrate the end together as everyone's last exam will be on a different day.

Prom?
Sixth form or college induction days?

Check your teen wouldn't miss these.

Mine had compulsory sixth form induction days around 7th July, no admittance without attending the induction. Definitely check with your child's preferred sixth form.

I'm sure our lot head to Reading Festival every year!

@edmel they can legally leave school on the last Friday in June, so schools usually organise events like proms, leavers assemblies, sixth form offer-holder days etc between the end of the exams and that date. But do check with the school.
