Any counsellors / therapists on here who can help answer this?

I am looking into becoming a counsellor/therapist.

I don't have any qualifications so i looked into how you qualify without having gone to university and from my understanding I can do a level 2 in counselling skills, then level 3, then a level 4 diploma which involves the practice hours meaning I could go right into work following the level 4.

My questions are:

  • Is being BACP accredited the best route?
  • The training courses I have found are NCFE, is this recognised by BACP?
  • The element of needing to have undergone private therapy first, is that x amount of hours from the point of starting the course or does previous therapy count? As i have probably had about 5+ years worth i'd say.

Thank you
