Another confused person here. My daughter has passed for the 4 Trafford Grammar Schools. Obviously this is not the offer of a place. I’m unsure how to approach the LA secondary form. I’m not 100% set on any of the grammars and I don’t know how likely an offer of a place is as we are out of catchment (although not miles and miles away). How does the preference system work? If I put a grammar as number 1 and then she is not offered a place to over subscription, does this jeopardise priority 2, which would be the local (non-grammar) secondary? If I put the local non-grammar as priority 1 and they can accommodate her, does that mean she would never be considered for an offer at one of the grammars? Wasn’t expecting this to be a consideration and I’m a bit thrown. Thanks for any help

If you want her to be considered for the grammar first you need to place it first. Putting the other second will not jeopardise a place. You are allocated the one which is higher preference for which you qualify. So if she qualifies for grammar she will get a place there, if not the next one is looked at and so on.

@Disconcertinglyvague I agree with the advice from@LIZS about completing the CAF.

Regarding Trafford grammars particularly, I understand they are very competitive and out of catchment places are rare.
