Hi, our son has passed the Kent test. We live in Orpington. What are the chances of being offered a place at Tunbridge Wells school for boys when living in our area. Thanks.

For their Sevenoaks campus they only went out 3-4 miles the past couple years so your chance is slim. For TW campus their priority area is within 3 miles (in a straight line) and I believe in recent years the last offered place was still within this. However I have also heard anecdotally that it's been up to 11 miles. But I couldn't say this was for certain and could be completely wrong. I don't think KCC or TWGSB publish farthest distance offered unfortunately. Just put it as your first choice on your SCAF and keep your fingers crossed! Remember it won't jepodise a place at your second choice if you are certain to get a place there.

Was the 3-4 miles just on the 1st round, or after the post offers reallocations? I have heard on the grapevine that some living in Orpington have got inyo Tunbridge Wells for boys

I’m afraid I don’t know but I’d assume those who got in from Orpington were maybe via the waiting list? You can add yourself to the waiting lists if any school you’ve named on your SCAF after offer day in March. Waiting lists stay active until the following January as far as I’m aware.

Wondering if you DS got into TWGSB

Pigsmightfly1902 · 11/03/2025 15:47

He did indeed! How about your DS?

Yes he got offered TWGSB for the 2025 intake. I Don't have much idea about the school, do you have any idea on their academic performance and non academic achievements?

Afraid not, my other DS is at one of the other grammar schools. So for TWGSB going only on ofsted reports and the usual data available online regards exam results. But the appeal for us was the “all-round” education they promise so I hope that materialises! 🤞

@TheLondonBoy did your son get a place. DS sadly missed out again in today's reallocation and I'm wondering how far out the offers went.

Fingers crossed for you. We are in Orpington and got the callback to say DS has got in to TWGSB last week.
