UCAS points and predicted grades

DC is off to uni to study Law next year. He has taken a year out and so has his A Level results of ABC (the A was in Law.) He is also doing an extra A level this year, as well as working, and has a predicted A* grade in that. His CV is pretty impressive.

Is it pointless applying for AAA courses? Would A*AB be the same in UCAS points and therefore be treated the same by unis, or do they mean those exact grades, and not the UCAS point equivalent?

Thanks in advance.

To be honest I’d just look carefully at what each require and only put those down that definitely would appreciate the subjects/grades.
It doesn’t really matter where he goes as long as the degree is accredited, but I understand trying to aim for those considered “better”. However, that does perhaps mean it’s a bit risky he ends up with no offers unless the aspirations are sensible.
As a former lawyer, don’t get het up on Bristol or anywhere else. They all teach much the same so they just need to get in, pass and have fun! So take a close look at the subjects that are favoured and grades and go from there….
