People who work with small children - how often do you get sick?

I get sick about once a half term. Half of all the holidays are me being mildly ill!

Right now I have Covid, and it sucks. I recently retrained as an early years teacher and have only been working in early years for a year, so I don’t know if my immune system has some “catching up” to do.

I WAS one of those people who never got sick! Even when my own children were small and catching everything.

I’m curious to know: how often do others who work with small children get sick? Will I soon stop getting ill all the time or is this a hazard of the job?

My friend works in a school and used to get quite sick at the beginning? Do you take vitamin D? A good dosis? Maybe magnesium chelated too? She also gets the flu vaccine

I did a bit at the beginning but I really believe I got exposed to a lot of bugs and had more immunity after a while.

Particularlystomach bugs. I got them all first year, then every other one, then every third bug and then I just didn't get them for years.
I always had good hand hygiene, but I worked in the office so all the sick children sat with me and were often sick whilst waiting to be picked up.

Colds we're a bit catchier but I still feel they got less and not as bad.

I think the first couple of years you will get sick quite a bit unfortunately.

I used to get sick the first or second week of the school holidays in July.
When my body started to relax.
Year after year after year.

Very rarely had any days off in term time.

In the first year I was permanently down with something.

My immune system did get used to it.

On my second cold of this academic year but have had flu and Covid jab so am optimistic! Touch wood always dodge the tummy bugs.

I used to work with small children, and had small children of my own, with lots of friends.

The first year or so I had a few colds and coughs, then my immune system seemed to have hardened and I was never ill. It didn't matter if I had been in a room with two or three dozen snotty and sneezy children, I just didn't catch anything.

Vegan with at least 50 % raw food, took vits C & D and had the flu jab. I have no idea if any of that helped.

The first winter is difficult OP but it should get better.
