Hi everyone!

I just moved to Whitefield M45, Manchester, and I'm looking to enrol my sons (ages 13 and 12) into a good secondary school that is both academically focused and very safe. I’d appreciate any recommendations or insights from those familiar with the schools around here. We’re looking for a place that offers a strong academic programme but prioritises its students' well-being and safety.

I'd love to hear your thoughts if you’ve had personal experiences or know which schools are particularly great in this area. Thank you so much for your attention and participation.

Can I suggest you contact your Local Education Dept to see which schools have places for your children, you might not have a lot of choice. Then go online and look at the schools website, drive around the area at end of school to get a feel for things and arrange to visit.

If you tell us which schools you can choose from, you might get advice from local parents. It would be pointless to hear great things about a school that you have no chance of going to, catchments can make a difference as well as availability.

OP, you should also ask Mumsnet Towers to rename your thread, to include the location, as the title is too generic to catch the eye of locals.

state or private?
if state, you will be offered schools with places,
if private, then you will probably have more choice.
Good luck.
