Emanuel school open day

What did people think of the Open Day at Emanuel School? I’m eager to know thoughts as I couldn’t for the life of me get a ticket. I heard from other friends they were very impressed with the school itself and the teachers but less so with the senior management who apparently all seemed ‘stuck in the 1960s’ whatever that means?!

I’m going tomorrow so will let you know. Worrying if that’s the view in current SLT as word on the grapevine is that the new Head is an internal appointment.

I’d concur with the comments of others. The talk was very dry and compared incredibly poorly to others. Given he’s on his way to Dulwich College which must be one of the most attractive headships in the country, I was expecting to be wowed by the Head. There was also an overly long analysis of an average timetable. The two Deputy Heads were good, but the overall presentation was very old fashioned. The school is lovely, pupils we spoke to extremely engaged and the facilities you would expect from a school of that stature (& cost!). That said the facilities and grounds weren’t quite up there with the Dulwich or Hammersmith/Barnes schools.

ps. I’ve just checked who was who and if Mr Turner is in the running for the Headship I think they’d be in great hands from what we saw.

So it’s Mr Kothakota who’s the new head?! I really didn’t see that coming… not sure the kids are keen. What does everyone think?
