At present I am Home Educating my son as I have had no end in problems with school he is enrolled with. He is 9 and has recently been diagnosed with Autism, Tourettes syndrome, Sensory Intergration and Dyspraxia. I have gone for a Statement of Education, which was refused on grounds that all resources not yet exhausted.....I am appealing as this is now alarmingly serious. My DS has threatened running away, stabbing himself etc if he had to go back to his school. In my opinion this is all down to the mismanagement of his special needs. He needs to be within an environment where staff have experience, knowledge and understanding of his disabilities, hence going for the statement, as to enrol in a 'special school' a statement is needed.
