MCS/ KCS 7+ feasible from state primary?

Is it feasible to crack MCS or other top league schools from an outstanding state primary at 7+? Has anyone done this recently? DS is bright but we will help and support him. Also worried if behaviourally he will come across as ready.

Ys - both DS and DS2 transferred from a state primary at 7+.

Happy to share on this forum. Both had about a year of tutoring (one hour a week) with a paid tutor. Then some practice at home with me - not a huge amount. Loads of reading with DH.

Both flourished. One graduates from Oxford this week and the other is at an Ivy League college. DS1 was naturally very bright. DS2 (August baby) needed a bit more support to compensate for his age.
