Hello,
any feedback on the AR process in schools?

My first impression is not super positive for the following reasons:

  1. assigned reading level seems too low compared to my child's reading ability
  2. the reading range seems to be very large
  3. quiz process doesn’t take into account children might rush and click on the answers too quickly

Any thoughts from anyone?

Thank you very much.

DC's school use AR. They do the star reader test at the beginning of the year to determine reading level. And your reading range is set based on how you answer questions. If reading range (ZPD) is low it is indicative of the child's comprehension abilities.
The reading range is large in order that children find enough books to read within their level.
The speed at which the questions are answered doesn't have any bearing on the outcome. You need to have read the book and need to choose the answers accordingly. The no.of points a child can score at the end is based on the percentage of correct answers. Hope that helps.
