I have no idea how much money my son is going to need, my son will be 13yrs old, he is going to Belgium for 5 days with his high school science group, how much money is he going to need??? All accommodation and food is included but my kid loves his food hehe.
Any ideas what is appropriate and would he be better with cash or card??? Thank you. X

Card. He might find lots of places no longer accepting cash.
If you can afford it, I would be tempted to say budget an additional £20-25 a day.

I would ask the school for guidance. Our school has always requested no more than €30 for school trips.

Does the school not give you a guide? We
We were told a max of €100 for a six night trip to Spain.

If you can afford it, no more than €50 per day. Might need a little extra on last day for souvenirs.

Jobema · 12/09/2024 13:41

The school said minimum 50 euro, is that per day or whole trip, and doesn't feel like he would have anything for souvenirs. Wish I could go lol it sounds so awesome!!

You think a 13 year old needs €50 a day? 😳

skinnyoptionsonly · 12/09/2024 13:44

I'd say that's total of 50 euro or they'd have said the full amount

Holidays4Ever · 12/09/2024 13:57

Id send max 75 Eur so he can buy a snack and drink per day with a little to spare for a souvenir.

MiddleAgedDread · 12/09/2024 14:00

I wouldn't expect to spend 50E on myself for all meals and snacks in a day!! There's no way they need that much if they're being catered for.

3WildOnes · 12/09/2024 14:12

€50 will be for the whole trip. No teacher is going to want children walking around and potentially losing €300. They might only have an opportunity to spend money on one or two days.

Id ask school what they recommend. It seems odd they've specified a minimum but not a maximum. Do you talk to any other parents? Maybe agree a ballpark with his mates parents?
