Think about getting a tutor in for my 3 DCs a couple times a week. any experience of using tutors guys? if so what do I need to be asking them before I chose one?
Oh and how much roughly should I expect to pay ?

I don't use a tutor but I am a tutor so can give you that angle. Prices depend on the level of tutoring you want, in the NW where I'm based it's about £15ph for KS2 and 11+ preparation, £20ph for KS3 and KS4 tuition (mainly SATs and GCSE work), £25ph for AS/A2 level and £30 for 1sy Year Uni. I work through an agency so they probably ask the agency questions first as I can honestly say none of my students or their parents have ever asked me anything! What usually happens is I get a referral from the agency and phone the parent up to agree an initial meeting. I meet them and introduce myself, meet the student and look at what it is they are struggling with (I tutor science, chemistry and maths). If the parents and the student are happy I then arrange when it is convenient to start tutoring. Most of the work is in the run up to the main exam periods so I am quite busy at the moment. I suggest you get in contact with an agency as they will have references and copies of the criminal records checks of all their tutors and will have checked that they are suitably qualified.
