Hi,
After receiving some incorrect advice we are stuck in a situation where our children have not attended school this week (only 3 days so far, but they usually have excellent attendance).
We made the difficult decision to transfer our 3 children to a new school during the holidays due to several issues at their previous school.
The new school told us that we could notify them on the Monday, complete all paperwork that day and they could start on the Tuesday. Naively, we believed them. We were then told about the actual process on Monday and we are now on day 4 of waiting to hear what the outcome will be, stuck in limbo with the kids obviously off school.
One of our children would be starting Reception and another is autistic. This whole situation is so confusing for them. I've been told this will be sorted within the week and therefore haven't sent them to the previous school to save confusion/distress but I'm really worried in case it goes on longer. I don't know what to do for the best.
I have spoken to the attendance team at our local council who have escalated it to the admissions team, the new school are apparently chasing every day. I have emailed the admissions team but cannot call them so no quick replies or updates from them. I totally appreciate this time of year must be busy for them.
Has anyone been in a similar situation?
How long has it taken for an in year transfer for you?
Many thanks.
