Cheam Prep - current parents?

Hi there, we are due to make a move from London in the coming year and have already registered our children at Cheam School. Friend has just told me that the Head has left suddenly and I’m now worried something is happening at the school I’m unaware of? Any advice from current parents please? Thank you. x

I'm also trying to find out what happened to Will Phelps and his wife. Their departure seems to have been sudden, and she was due to start at the school this term as joint Head. Current parents? Staff? Please share.

Am not a current parent but my understanding is parents are happy with the acting head and there had been grumbles about his predecessor. So don't think events should put you off in any way.

All seems extremely sudden

Does anyone know if they’ll be advertising for a new head or whether the interim is actually the permanent one?

I heard that the headmaster had an affair with a mother....we are thinking of sending our son here too as seems a powerhouse of a school and nice facilities with happy kids

My son was at cheam from nursery, we put so much into that school and it's so called charity, Mr J and Mr Harris were great heads and Nick Millbank I'm sure will be too. Unfortunately Will Phelps and his side kick destroyed their reputation. My son in his final year was ruined he was due to accept a scholarship when we ran into temporary financial issues, we contacted the bursar who was no help whatsoever, he's not a nice individual! So we contacted the governors for assistance, sadly for our son Sophie Phelps the heads wife was secretary to the governors and conveniently failed to pass on our request and desperate pleas in the multiple emails we sent for temporary assistance! Phelps stopped our son attending school despite plenty of evidence the fees could be met imminently. We had a family cancer scare in the mix, that was no reason either for Phelps to have any concept of what we we were living through! That man ensured the 10 years our child was at that school was a total waste of money, he even went out of his way to call our sons new school to tell them we couldn't afford the fees , but failed to tell them that it was an international contract paying 80k and that he had seen evidence if the payment! Our son sadly didn't go to his chosen school thanks to Phelps 1 and 2 but thankfully he is excelling at his new school!!! If you are thinking of Cheam please don't let the Phelps reign put you off, the school is beautiful and the staff including the new head are amazing just that vile man destroyed their reputation
