My daughter was offered a place at Xavarian, subject to getting standard entry requirements of 6 'good' gcse's , she only got 5 'good' ones as two of her passes were 4's (presumably not good). She has a meeting next week to discuss enrolment but I wonder if this is pointless. Does anyone know if the entry requirements are set in stone or there is wriggle room. Any info would be really really gratefully recieved. Thank you

It will depend entirely on what the rest of the cohort is doing. Worth having the meeting. However she isn't massively self-motivated or academic xaverian isn't necessary college for her and she might need somewhere with a bit more support.

Thank you for replying. She is motivated for the A levels chosen, very excited and got 7's and 8's in those relevant GCSEs. I know her GCSE's would get her in most other places but I am conscious any spaces else where will be filling quickly while we wait for the meeting. She really wants to do her A levels at Xavarian and if there is any chance wants to wait for the meeting, but clearly if it's no chance at all I think we should already be looking elsewhere. Being a parent is very stressful 🙂

I think the key there is that she really wants to go and she is excited. So let her have the chance. If she gets in she'll probs with really hard and succeed.

Thank you. I think we will just keep our fingers crossed.
