I have two children both secondary school age we moved in June 3 hours away from pervious school my eldest son should be going into year 10 and younger year 8 the council have offered my eldest a school place 8 miles away and my youngest a school that is a 45 minute walk away the school they have offered my eldest doesn’t offer the options that he had chosen for gcse year and this journey would mean bus changes to get to and from school which would take around an hour and 10 minutes each way for him meaning he would have to leave home at around 7am in the morning to get to school on time. My youngest is special educational needs and was on a adhd pathway he has been known to leave school when it’s all too much and he doesn’t have a very good attention span and easily distracted. They have been out of school since the 31st of may and we have an appeal coming up sometime in September for a local school 12 minute walk from home there dad is forces so they have to deal with deployments and have left everything they know in the armed forces convent it says that they shouldn’t suffer disadvantages which I believe that them being spit up and have such a long journey to school is a disadvantage as well as the subject not being offered also this would mean my eldest would miss out on any after school activities and I would fear for his safety in winter having to wait around for buses in an area he does not know do I have any good grounds for the appeal any help would be appreciated thankyou
