Are locrating results on oversubscription realistic?

Hello Mums. I am searching for a primary school for my kid. He will be in Year 1. We are moving to the UK from overseas. So we can only go through the in-year admission process. I see there are a lot of factors that affect place in a school. But I wonder if the locrating filter as 'oversubscription' is realistic. I mean I chose the filter 'not oversubscribed' and searched for homes around the schools. Do you think it is reasonable to do so? Thanks for your help...

I would pick a general area and then phone schools in that area but I don’t know if staff will be in over the summer 🤔
