A Level Mock exams

My son is in Year 12 studying computer science, maths and physics. Although CS was his first choice of A level subject he has not enjoyed it. I knew he was struggling so a D in his recent mock was not a surprise. Now he has come home with a D in physics also. He hasn’t had the maths result yet but he should have an A for that.
I feel like there should still be time for him to improve before the real thing but hard not to be disappointed as he did so well in GCSEs and as a person he is motivated by success not by failure.
Does anyone know how much improvement is likely between year 12 mocks and the real thing. I am also not sure what mocks are used for predicted grades in UCAS applications?

Improvement depends on how motivated your DS is and how much work he does. Obviously improvement is possible but it might be worth asking his teachers.

As an example DS2 had a very poor PG for one of his A levels - bc the teachers felt he was far from what he could do and wanted to shock him into improving. It worked btw.

PGs are not usually fixed until the autumn term IME but again, I would check with the school as there is no rule across the board.
