Harrodian versus Ibstock Place

We are looking at both schools for our boy and girl who would be entering pre-prep and prep. I am leaning towards the Harrodian as it seems to have a lovely atmosphere and happy kids, also the results seem to be improving. I was less sold on Ibstock which seems to be similar in the league tables but outwardly more focused on academics, I am worried about the pastoral care.

These are my first impressions, I would love to hear from any parents out there with children at either school or who know families with kids there.

I can’t seem to find many recent posts on mumsnet but if you know of a thread I’m missing please let me know!

many thanks in advance

We are starting at Harrodian this year (son in Y4). We were keen on an all through and mixed gender school ....had an offer from Ibstock but turned it down as there were mixed reviews and the location is a little out of the way for us.

Would say your instincts about Ibstock prioritising academics over and above pastoral care are sadly spot on. Especially as it's not as academic a school in terms of intake as they want it to to be so it puts horrendous pressure on them
