Chalfonts Independent Grammar School

We’re looking to move to Buckinghamshire in the near future and would be really grateful to hear any feedback on the IB school, Chalfonts Independent Grammar School. Does it suit a particular child do you think? My son will be joining either in Yr 9 or for the start of Yr 10.

Hi!
Im an ex-student from The Chalfonts and I cannot recommend the school enough.

I’ve adored my time here and the school has allowed me to not only be super academically motivated, but also be more confident and aspirational as a person.

I was diagnosed with severe ADHD and dyslexia as a young kid and before joining the Chalfonts I found school and academics very difficult. Doing the IB and being at the Chalfonts has allowed me to go from a struggling student to someone who is now studying aerospace engineering at the University of Sheffield (4th best in the field).

Many of my Friends have also gone on to study at top universities, such as Mathematics at Warwick and Medicine at Oxford.

While the IB is hard, it’s definitely worth it, especially when you’re in an amazing and supportive school community like The Chalfonts.

I can talk a whole lot more about the school, so feel free to contact me if you have any specific questions about my experience there!

Hi @Theogc1811, thanks so much for taking the time to reply. I’m so thrilled to hear such a positive response! I’d love to hear more about the school. My son seems to be doing quite well academically (he’s just started Yr 9), and doesn’t have any SEND, but I worry about how small the school is (will he ‘find his tribe’?) and whether he’ll cope with the IB. If he then goes to a 6th form college later on, will the Yr 10/11 IB qualification be ok for him to move to A-levels, should he so wish?

I’m not sure how long ago you were there, so I don’t know if you’ll be able to answer this question, but, how did you find your teachers?

Any additional information that you can give about any aspects would be so helpful. Thank you again.
