Bootham School York

We are considering moving our daughter into Year 8 at Bootham School, York. She is currently in a big comprehensive where she is fairly happy (has friends) but the behaviour is terrible. She says she has approximately 15 minutes learning time each lesson due to the disruption and the kids are on phones all the time. She has suggested the move (we turned down an offer from Bootham at the start of Year 7).

I just wondered if anyone has children at Bootham and how a mid year transition might go? Very nervous about her being the new girl when groups have started to form. Do many join after Year 7? Also do many travel in by train ( we are worried about the journey)?

Many thanks

I know a lot of people with children at Bootham and they all seem extremely happy. Mid year moves are often a bit weird at first but I think Bootham is exactly the kind of environment where children would be welcomed and included and make friends quickly. It’s a very tolerant place.

Where are you travelling from? Some schools offer transport.

@teacherteacher did you decide to move in the end? Just wondering how your daughter is finding Bootham and what school she moved from :)
