Frensham Heights - class sizes

Hi, We're currently parents at Alton School (which is closing at the end of this term) & like everyone else there need to find a new school for our girls come September. We've been to see Frensham & loved the approach & offering, however we have a concern about the class sizes - eldest daughter is currently year 2, going into year 3 come September, youngest is currently reception, going into year 1 in September, does anyone know what the class sizes are for those year groups - given what's happened in Alton we're nervous about a potential repeat (although Frensham appears in a better place, especially with the senior school).

Any thoughts welcome!

My friend sent her son there and was unimpressed. Essentially the lack of boundaries meant he did no work. She moved him to a different school at 16 (army kid).

Depending where you're based, have you looked at Churcher's College? The Junior School is in Liphook and last year expanded to two classes for reception. They increase class sizes in year 3, making two classes of 20-22 children in each. We moved our child there in year 3 and they love it.

Hello @RobInAlton We’re another family suffering from the fallout of Alton School and are desperately seeking the right thing- good luck!! Please do check out Bedales, specifically Dunhurst and Dunannie (prep and pre-prep). No more than 15 per class, and one Year 3 class this year had just 8 in it. The small classes shouldn’t raise any alarms though, it’s nothing but a good thing. Families here love it so much and the 20% Labour promise/threat will just be worn by these families. Incredibly nurturing, forward-thinking place! If you like Frensham, you’ll love this! X

I can thoroughly recommend Luckley House in Wokingham. Welcoming and great pastoral team with excellent boarding options. Probably too far from you on a daily basis but maybe weekly boarding is an option?
