Redoing my CV - please help me with my grade inflation.

9 O' Levels 5 As 3 Bs and 1 ungraded

3 A' Levels 2 As 1 B

An LL.B (Hons) at class 2:1

I know the ungraded at O level is now a pass at GCSE but can someone please help me with the rest and tell me how they have marked up their own qualifications to reflect current standards?

Thanks.

I don't lst my grades for GCSE, I just say how many I achieved, such as:

11 GCSEs, 8 at grade C or higher inc Mathematics, English and ICT

I list my A levels if feel it is necessary.

My degree I list as it is.

sophierosie · 03/04/2008 21:44

Don't you just leave them as the grade awarded?

If they were some time ago I'm sure any potential employer is more interested in your current skills rather than how you did in an exam 20 years ago.

flowerybeanbag · 03/04/2008 21:47

Firstly if you mean 'inflate' as in lie and say that you got a higher grade than you did, don't.

Secondly, if you did them long ago enough that they are O levels, they almost certainly are entirely irrelevant anyway so leave them off, or at most do what Hula said, put how many. I haven't put my GCSEs or A Levels on a cv for donkeys years. No one is going to give you a job or not because you got a C at O Level Home Economics or whatever.

elkiedee · 03/04/2008 21:49

Swedes, just say that you have 8 O levels if you mention them at all, nothing wrong with that. I was one of the last to take O levels so we're talking more than 20 years ago. Surely employers would be more interested in your experience and skills now.

EffiePerine · 03/04/2008 21:50

No-one will be interested in O levels, leave them off (or out 9 0 levels inc Maths and English if you need those)

ScienceTeacher · 03/04/2008 21:51

You can't alter your grades - the dates should speak for themselves.

Blandmum · 03/04/2008 21:52

Don't grade inflate.

Just say how many O levels you have, and leave the grades

LaComtesse · 03/04/2008 21:53

I would leave them off or just list them as 9 Os, 3 As and your degree in it's full glory.

Thanks all. Shall I put "not adjusted for grade inflation" in capital letters?
