Newcastle schools

DD is currently at an independent girls school and is thoroughly miserable there...imagine the movie "Mean Girls" but without the happy ending!I couldn't move her earler (she's now in Yr 7)because it was physically impossible to get her to Newcastle (my prefered choice)but I've since moved house and although it would be a bit of a trek, I could probably get her to Newcastle now.Does anybody have kids, particularly girls, at the RGS or Dame Allens in Newcastle?I'd love to hear how they're finding it there

I have friends with boys at RGS, and another friend with girls at Dame Allens, they are all happy and settled. Is DD at D**? or further north?

I've moved away now but I went to Dame Allan's. We had a good head, then a bad head and it went downhill, but he was sacked and I think it got better again. When I left school (13 years ago!) the general feeling was that Central was the best academically and Church ok, about the same as Dame Allen's. I know someone with a dd in church and they are not too happy but not sure why. Westfield and La Sagesse tended to get good results from average girls and had good pastoral care. I always thought that Church, Central and RGS were in a bit of a clique but that might be my teenage paranoia. I know that after I left they got a lot of new facilities and it was generally a good school. Fantastic biology teacher if that helps. RGS had a v good reputation but was all boys in those days.

My brother went to RGS. All boys in his day.I didn't know it was mixed. La Sagesse was in the Times this week because it's probably closing down.

Shame these posts are still here after so long. Very biased and one sided. I have only ever heard good things about Central - friends wonder why anyone would choose or even ook at any other school for a DD now. Well established Head who has put her mark on the School which is increasing in numbers and just had an excellent inspection report. Wonderfully caring and real community feel.
