A few messages on here have asked about Rossall School, Fleetwood. I would say do your research, ask questions, but don't be taken in by all the glossy marketing. The school is always advertising for teachers and there seems to be a high turnover of staff. Not a good sign. The current senior administration has a reputation!! Having said that the school has lots of opportunities for sport, drama, music, etc., but the time has to come from somewhere. Great if your child can cope. If you have a daughter, ask how many girls will be in the class as this might limit her friendship groups. The school offers an all-round education, just ensure it´s the right balance for your child.

My SiL sends her three youngest to Rossall School but it's not somewhere we'd ever consider and she is looking to move them. It has a terrible local reputation as a place to work. The Headmaster is apparently unfriendly to the children and rarely seen. Rumour has it anyone good eventually leaves due to ill-treatment by the senior management.

Also if your child isn't a foreign boarder playing football then they are mostly ignored on their social media.

Thank you DenimFox and Catty11 for bringing to light the treatment of staff at Rossall School. There appears to be a very heavy handed mentality toward staff at the hands of the Heads.

If only my friends knew this before taking jobs here. They are learning the hard way. Unfortunately I can't go into details as I would be breaking confidences. Sadly my friends are not the only victims of the warped egos running the school, or should I say 'ruining'.

My friend's son is in the little school and says three teachers and two teaching assistants are leaving this summer, which is excessive considering its size. Rumours abound about a hidden iceberg of stressed, unhappy staff which is professionally hidden from paying parents. No smoke without fire?

If you are considering placing your child here, ask how long the teachers have worked at Rossall School and what support staff there are? Continuity and knowledge of the curriculum count for a lot in teaching.

There are many good state schools in the area. They just don't have expensive marketing departments that shout about everything they do....
