Queensmead school Ruislip

Any honest opinions on Queensmead? Pros and cons?

We are close to Queensmead and know a number of DD's friends who go there. They and their parents like it overall. It's in a large site with good facilities and lot of sports opportunities.

One DS we know who went on to study engineering in Southampton speaks very highly of the support and encouragement he received from his teachers in sixth form.

The school produces better results than the local area average, has high progress 8 score, some students every year go to Russell group universities, and occasional Oxbridge.

It is one of three comprehensives that are known to be a good school in this area and consequently quite oversubscribed. The other two are Ruislip High and Northwood.

@RuislipParent thank you. that is indeed very reassuring to know:) have you heard of anything negative or of concern e.g. student safety etc.

I haven't heard anything particularly negative. One of DD's friends once complained that the school is overly strict, too much homework etc. But that's just one girl few months after starting year 7, and they didn't have any homework in primary. So I took that with a pinch of salt.

Maybe take a look at their Ofsted report regarding child safety etc? the school used to be rated 'Outstanding', but after last inspection a year ago changed to 'Good'.
