Do 11+ waitlists move over half term or is everything on pause for the week?

@HydePark13 , you need to move over to the secondary education section where its WL heavy at the moment, but no WL's don't move over half term, most movement is between 1-5 March this year (state school offer date onwards).

Depends on the school. A lot of independent schools sent out their decisions on Friday. Admissions departments operate year round and don’t close in the holidays.

At our school they issue places as they arise, so someone turns it down and the next person on the WL gets an offer. At other schools they will do it in weekly or fortnightly batches. It’s in their best interests to try and fill spaces before state school allocations.

Those parents only interested in independent education tend to whittle it down to one or two schools and will release places in the next week or so. There’s then a bit of a lull until offer holder days have been and gone and they make a final decision.

Waiting lists do then move again after the state school allocations on 1st March. It’s a horrid waiting game but remind yourself. Most children will have applied to between two and five schools (the higher numbers being in London) and they can only go to one!!!!
