Science Writing

Does anyone know where I can find passages of science writing that would be suitable to set as Science Comprehensions for able 13/14 year olds? Or are there any science comprehensions in existence? Thanks MNers

I think that Absolute Science by Collins contains science writing exercises, but I have had no recent experience and ofcourse keystage 3 is changing rapidly.

Have you had a look at the News sections of New scientist?

We use a set of books for science reading for understanding, but for the life of me I can't remember what they are called. I'll try to remember on Wednedsay when I'm back in work.
