Hi wondering what everyone’s opinions are on the above .
Thinking of a whole relocate .
What are the best state schools in the UK are these in Scotland or England would you say ?
Is this personal choice or based on statistics .

I found an article on a particular area and was impressed by the amount of achievement .

@ArseInTheCoOpWindow the problem is where I am (South London) is primary schools have falling enrollment figures and several schools have closed/are closing or joining up with other schools.
There are simply less children needing places. In 5 or so years time that generation will be moving up to secondary - so less secondary places will be required and I expect some schools may close.

Schools change. They can change really fast, or gradually over time. But really, the idea of schools being fixed in time as good or bad is crazy.

My ds is in Y10. New head last year and curriculum offer completely changed from when he started in Y7. He’s now doing 12 GCSEs, only 3 of which he got to choose. The high level sports program at the school has also been scrapped, without a word to parents and after school clubs sports clubs are not being run as the school is prioritising external lets.

One thing that doesn’t change as much with a school is the social intake. More middle class areas will have better results. For many parents, that’s (along with OFSTED grading 🙄, no matter how old) is ultimately what people are really looking for when they say talk about good schools.
