i am determined to learn french, properly. The usual story, rotten teaching at school(in the 70's) and I got a bad CSE (anyone remember them?). Since then I have actually travelled to France a great deal and we hope to move there in a few years. All the kids learn French at school and are ok when we are there and my dh is almost fluent (his dad was brought up french speaking, abroad). So does anyone know a good week long intensive course I could do to jump start me? I did wonder about actually doing it in France.
The cost does matter but I have my 50th birthday in a few weeks time and this could be my present! From then on I hope to have tuition at home once or twice a month. Any advice from all you Francophiles/linguists??

hi - i don't know the details of any specific courses sorry but IMO the best way to learn a language is to live and speak with the natives, so a course in france, where you get ot live with real french people (who won't speak english to you) would be the best way to learn.

good luck

thanks Choufleur, I would really like to do a course in France - it seems like the best way to do it.
