Primary schools in/around Barnes

Hello,

We are looking to move to Barnes but have little/no insight into primary schools in the area. Is Barnes Primary as amazing as it seems? Is St Osmunds not great? I don't quite understand why they don't have more over subscription. We haven't bought yet so can locate anywhere in the town but definitely seem to get more for your money towards Hammersmith Bridge/those houses backing onto St Paul's (which really takes you away from Barnes Primary). Any advice or experiences at all would be super welcome. Thank you

I'm in another part of the borough and don't really know about Barnes but isn't St Osmund's RC? I guess a lot of people would not want that. I know I would not have chosen a Catholic school given pretty much any other option.

I have heard good things about Lowther from various people. East Sheen and Barnes primaries also seem to be decent schools.

Do you already have children and how old? Schools can change quite fast, so personally I would not overthink location if your children are more than a year or two away from primary.

@BonjourCrisette thanks for getting back to me. Yes one child and one on the way. Applications for our three year old open this year so we've got eight months max to sell our place and find a new one, all based on catchment areas really. We're open to Catholic schools so there are quite a few options.

Hello! We live Barnes/East Sheen borders. Kids at East Sheen Primary - which we are very happy with, happy to share more info if you like.

There are so many great primary schools around Barnes and East Sheen - hard to think of a bad option. With the birth rate falling recently, there's much less oversubscription.

If you haven't seen it already - this is helpful. Pages 36-38 give you the distance from the school of the last admission, or if they met all preferences.

I agree that there are no really bad schools in the borough. So the best thing for you to do is probably have a trip to Barnes in the near future and try to book in some tours. I noticed, looking round schools for both primary and secondary, that some which I had expected to love I didn't and vice versa.
