KEHS or Grammar?

Hi mums
After some advice regarding KEHS and SGGS. My DD scored really well in her grammar exams last year however we are out of catchment for SGGS which she would LOVE to go to - we also got offered a scholarship from KEHS - however DD just doesn't seem keen on KEHS for some reason - her heart is sat on SGGS. Any advice from parents whose girls attend either - pros and cons of each school? And which option should I go for? TIA

@YOLO85 I can’t help with your query but it might help if you named the schools. Or said where you live. I imagine there are a number of schools with the initials SGGS - I went to one, but I doubt it’s the one you have in mind tbh.

Many thanks Clary - sorry I'm new to mumsnet and fairly new to the UK.
KEHS is King Edwards VI school for girls in Edgbaston, Birmingham. SGGS is Stratford Girls Grammar School in Stratford Upon Avon - hope that helps - should I be posting this elsewhere?

Please just be realistic about your chances of getting a place at SGGS if you are out of catchment. You might not actually have a choice between the two schools. It is important that your daughter understands this and her expectations are managed.

I don't think there's any comparison. KEHS on a full scholarship is winning at life. Isn't it Sunday times best school in the midlands? I went to KEHS, sister went to SGGS and she moved over the KEHS for sixth form as it was so much better.
I went back last summer and it still seems like a fabulous school with support for every possible interest and girl. Very strong community.

Wait and see if you get a place at Stratford. Manage your daughter's expectations in the meantime.

Otherwise, they are both good schools and she will probably get the same academic results whichever one she goes to. Distance and ease of travel should play a big part in any choice you have to make. Given their locations, surely one is much easier to get to than the other. (And if SGGS is a long way away, that probably means you are too far away to get a place)

Many thanks for your reply - children from our end have actually got into SGGS as a first offer or off the waiting list so we may stand a chance. We are out of catchment by a couple of houses literally. She is aware that she may not get in so we are just weighing out our options.

Thank you all for your responses - i actually work in Stratford that's why we are considering it and if she were to get a place we may consider moving closer once my 2nd child is due to start secondary school. Her expectations are managed well - was just after people's experiences of either school and the pros and cons of them and if KEHS is worth the money as we have been offered a % off - it isn't a full scholarship. Thank you all
