My niece & nephew attend/ed Outwood schools - a lot of praise for them. My nephew did really well in his GCSEs.

Its hard to get the right balance. If Ofsted inspectors become afraid to raise things that upset head teachers then children might be at risk (worst case scenario). But headteachers should have support to put things right and not feel isolated and afraid of the rating they get.
Much has been made of the inspectors and inspection in this case, but Ofsted don't sack teachers. Local Authorities do. What about the lack of support from the LA and other bodies in this case?

It maybe hard to get the right balance, but my experience with Ofsted has always been that they are overly critical.

They totally messed up our last school inspection, to the point the school had to bring in the lawyers. I do not think they are currently fit for purpose and something needs to be done.

LA’s don't ‘sack’ teachers. They have no rights for hiring or firing staff.

Headteacher and Governing board responsibility following a time measured, union and teacher agreed plan to support improvements.

@CateinEd
Well okay. My point is Ofsted don't actually dismiss teachers so maybe support for improvement should also be reviewed following the tragic death as well as looking at inspection regimes.
