Wink Murder

I have this question. Is wink murder game age appropriate for 5 year olds? I have orientation week coming up and I wanted to play this game with my 5 year olds however I’m unsure if they can play this game.

I've played it with year 2 but wouldn't with that age group. Heads down thumbs up was always popular, or Tomato Ketchup/Yes your majesty.

How many 5yos can wink?

Call it Blinky Night Night.

Some 5 yo can't wink.

When wink/blinked at they yawn and fall asleep.

I’ve played a similar game with that age but rather than any winking or murdering which EYFS can struggle with (!), it’s ’conductor of the orchestra’ so it’s the same general idea with one person in the middle of the circle trying to guess who’s ‘on’ but the person who is on chooses an instrument to ‘play’ (mime) and the others copy-eg playing the piano, banging a drum, playing the violin, recorder, castanets etc! The guesser has to decide who is the conductor and changing the instrument.

All of them, all things being equal.

It's fine to use, but I agree to call it something else. Kids of all ages for some deeply unfathomable reason, love it 😂

I think it's too tricky for 5 year olds but all ages seem to love heads down thumbs up.

I hadn't heard of it before I started teaching - the children in one of my early classes taught it to me. I've had classes from Year 1 to Year 5 asking to play it.
