How can we find out how many children are on roll in the nursery attached to an academy primary school?

Ask them.

MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 23/11/2023 19:56

We have - they won't tell us.

Ofsted report will give you the figure approximately (unless the size of the nursery has changed radically since the last report.

Might be worth looking at job ads - these might give an idea of size?

MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 23/11/2023 20:22

The capacity is 26

Last OFSTED was 2018

It was 20 children then.

We want to find out how many on roll now - is that possible?

No, there is no public information that would tell you how many are on roll right now.

The only possible sources would be some time out of date - Ofsted reports, GIAS, school website etc.

Have you tried phoning up pretending to want to put your child in nursery and ask if there's space?

Do you know any of the nursery parents? They’d have an idea.

Why, out of interest? In most cases attending the nursery isn’t part of the criteria for awarding school places.

They offered grandson 30 hrs from January and since they found out he has epilepsy they've said they're full. His brother and sister go to the school. His brother is in nursery and we know they're not full.

SENCO said today that there is a child starting there (nursery) in January who is older than him so she has more need of the place. She has EHCP and 1:1 support already.

We've since found out that this child is in reception now and being back classed next week. So not starting in January as they told us - starting on Monday.

Grandson has global delay, epilepsy and possibly other things going on.

Just can't believe they've gone back on their word and don't know what to do.

Get someone else to make an enquiry about a space.

I can understand wanting to catch them in the lie and make them squirm but what is the longer term plan here? Are the parents applying for a reception place for your grandson?

MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 24/11/2023 14:25

Yes - he will be starting in reception in due course.

This not an oversubscribed school. In fact it is in special measures.

No wonder really.

It's just that it's a 5 min walk to school and on the way to to where mum works.

It's her local primary.

I've had some help from charities today and my email has been sent.

We'll see what they say now.
