FS2 teachers.... which week would you book on holiday?!

I'm looking at a term time holiday in July.

DS2 is in FS2.

It will be either Mon 1st or Mon 8th July.
Would either week be better or worse to miss a week of school?

FS2 teachers wouldn't be allowed to book a holiday in either week. 8-)

I imagine op is a parent, not a teacher 🙄

Yes. I am a parent. Asking if one week over the over would mean less work missed. I thought it was fairly obvious but perhaps not. 🤷

If any teachers could advise I'd be grateful. I imagine there's not a great deal of difference but I'm not a teacher so I thought those that plan the curriculum year in year out may have a little more insider knowledge lol.

But every school will have its own curriculum plans so the " best" - or perhaps least worse- week will vary from school to school. Any week out will mean that your child misses out on something. That's not to say you don't go, but no week will be better than the other.
Oh, and if your child is then 5, just assume you will be fined and include this in your calculations!

Assessment data will already be done by then (end of June) so either of those weeks will be fine. Avoid the last few weeks due to transition days into new classes and meet the teacher events but they could happen any time in July really.

Those are the weeks that "meet the new teacher" and transition events happen. Sets them up for a good year 1, as they get time in their new classroom with their new teacher, story times together, joint events as much as possible.

It's normally Sports Day, if that's something you/your child likes.

There's end of term plays to watch that the older children produce.

There's end of term trips.

There's a whole load of different things.

My old school used to have farm animals spend a week on the school grounds in July.

Most schools do these type of events all through July.

The school won't yet have dates booked in for these things, so no point asking. Your best bet is to chat to a couple of parents in years 1&2 and see if they can remember the rough weeks of different events from last year, as most schools stick to the same.

Thanks all, that's helpful.

I don't mind about the fine, the prices are like three times as much in the school hols so even with the fine it's a vast difference.

I don't want him missing the week in his new/next classroom though so I will ask the school and/or other local parents when that usually is.
