Eaton House or Squirrels (Wimbledon)

Hello,
my son has received offers from both Eaton House and Squirrels aka Wimbledon Common Preparatory School.

I am torn between the 2 as both produce fantastic results, but the chances of getting into Kings is higher with Squirrels.

The challenge:

a. I would prefer to go to Squirrels due to outdoor space, and they are highly academic. The con is that it is slightly away from home which I worry would tire my son out daily commute. I’m also concerned more of the leavers go to schools in Surrey if they don’t get into kings which is not what I would like for my son.

b. Eaton house con is they are two town houses, no outdoor space and I just stress that the boys can trip in the narrow staircase and injure themselves.

Both schools appear to be academic which is great as my son is pretty academic (or they are the signs he shows today).

any advice on your experiences will be greatly appreciated. Need to respond to schools this week.

thanks.

I don’t know which Eaton House you’re referring to but neither are near Wimbledon so that’s such an odd pair of schools to be choosing between. Where do you live? They’re both good schools so I’d choose whichever is most convenient and save yourself hours in the car every day. Also don’t dismiss the ease local friends for playdates and holiday meet ups. Eaton House the Manor if that’s the one you’re referring to uses the common opposite for sports so the kids aren’t lacking in facilities and the school has been there for years so I’m sure the stairs haven’t caused any problems.

We live in Fulham which is limited for boys school, hence the outreach to Wimbledon :)

@horizon2023 , have you read the thread in Primary education which is the same?
Go for the nearest, it will make all your lives much more enjoyable.

That drive to Wimbledon from Fulham could easily take you 40 minutes in rush hour. Worse still next time another south west london bridge gets closed. I think you’re insane for considering it tbh. But I don’t know anything about EH Belgravia so can’t advise you there. Have you discounted all the local options for being coed or something, because there are well regarded private schools much closer to you?
