Iseb exam timings

Hi there,
Hoping someone can help explain the time lines for the ISEB exams.
We’re applying for 3 schools that all use the exam. One has an entrance exam in early October and another in early Jan.
So does that mean DD takes the exam in October at the first school & then that result accounts for all the schools?
Isn’t that a bit unfair as children applying for the other school have 3 extra months of prep?? Or am I misunderstanding something?
Thank you!

You’re right. They only sit it once. Yes, it’s a bit unfair but if the children sitting it are anything like round here, they have all had intense tutoring over the summer and if they don’t know it now then an extra three months won’t make a blind bit of difference.

Does your child not sit the ISEB at her current school and that is sent off to all the school you apply for that use it? Or am I mistaking what you are asking?
we are applying for many schools, some will get the ISEB info from our child’s current school, for some he will sit additional tests and for some it will be something different than the iseb.

My Childs school isn’t somewhere they can take the exam, so she’ll sit it else where. It looks like she’ll probably have to sit in at the first school in October. Just seems weird that one of the other schools won’t sit it until January but her results will count from October.
My daughter is very young in the year so I feel I’d rather she has longer to prep!
The whole system (when coming from state) is slightly mind boggling!

The schools will be wise as to when the child is sitting it and high marks achieved earlier in the year would probably be considered “better” than someone getting the same result several months later.
