We live in Brockley and we're in the midst of looking at secondaries for my year 6 son. He has sat the Kent Test and the Bexley Test, so we're waiting for results, although he said the Kent Test went much better than the Bexley Test. His interests definitely veer towards STEM subjects and I'd like to find a school where he can do all three sciences at GCSE and which offer good computing and CDT departments. However, I've heard that there is a crisis in science teacher recruitment, and I know that several schools (including Hatcham college, Kingsdale and Forest Hill boys) have been reliant on supply teachers and children going through worksheets. I wondered which SE London schools are stronger in STEM? Any experiences would be helpful to hear about.
