Maths - English for 4 years old

Hi,
My 4 year old little one is in one of the prestigious private schools around north west London.

Can you suggest if it is worth doing any maths techniques or something similar at this age? Someone suggested Kuman, but not sure if it's a good shout burdening them with extra classes at this age? Does it help in longer term in any way?

Thanks,

What are your concerns? I assume they’ve literally started reception last week? I’d honestly just let them settle in and see how they go. No need for any more work!

Tbh if I was having to pay for external maths / english age 4 I'd wonder what I was paying the prestigious private school for.

Thank you. I don't have any concerns and not at all trying to get my boy in any madness at this age. It's just that someone suggested this as they did for both their kids. It made me worry if that's what parents do...and I wanted to hear from other parents on their experience/thoughts :-)

At 4 I really don’t think you need to be worrying and suspect they won’t have the writing skills to manage maths worksheets etc at that age anyway. At that age they’re focusing on a mastery of numbers and really understanding number bonds etc.

You are already in a position where your child is at a massive advantage over the general population given the small class size. Don’t get sucked into the north London madness.
